The material I have selected that has directly informed my practice consists of mostly lens-based material that has a sculptural subject or is concerning the sculptural processes involved in prop making. When I started looking at practical effects in film, James Casebere’s model buildings served as an example of its use in still photography in a Visual Arts context. The three Doctor Who episodes include the three character designs my masks are recreations of. It is important to me to see their intended use and context to compare it to their context within The Doctor Who Exhibition, which is covered in both of John Colliers eBooks. Many other visual resources served as reference points for sculpting and the photographic presentation, but these served as key points of inspiration that informed the changes in direction of or ideas driving this project.
